Quotes from our Staff

Highcrest ensures that staff strengths are recognised and rewarded with directed staff progression and career progression. Difficulties arising in personal or professional lives are supported and managed to allow success as part of a team effort. Highcrest may no longer  have the community element in its name but the concept of a community is very much at the heart of the school.

Mrs A Shaw, Head of Humanities

The staff and students at the Academy are amazing and I have always felt appreciated here. Highcrest is not just a school, it also feels like home.

Mr Jones, Senior IT Technician

I began at The Highcrest Academy in 2020 as a Learning Support Assistant, hoping to gain experience in a secondary school with a view to eventually qualifying as a fully qualified teacher. During this time, I was provided with a wealth of understanding and flexibility to help accommodate the shifting contact time required by my studies while I completed my degree in Psychology with English Literature.

We're just one big happy family, striving for the best outcome for each and every pupil.

I'd definitely say our INSET and CPD programme/sessions are far better than anything I've seen or heard of from other schools.

A Endicott 7 Blue - Miss Cherissa Thompson

Dear Highcrest Academy, I just wanted to say how much my son loves all the school trips he gets to go on and how much he enjoys them. He finds them not only educational, but also lots of fun, such as the recent trip to the theatre to watch a real live play as part of his drama class. He also loves the events that the school puts on to reward students who have good behaviour and good attendance. He particularly enjoyed the trip to Thorpe Park last year! He still talks about it now. These extra activities significantly improve his experience at the Highcrest Academy, so thank you so much for going the extra mile! Best wishes, Ina.

S Stan 9 Yellow - Dr Ina Stan

I have been a parent of a child at Highcrest for more than twenty years . My eldest Luke O'Neill who is now 34 came here in the last year it was called Hatters Lane and was taught by Mrs Weldon who is still there. He helped design the badge for Highcrest Community. My daughter Nichole, daughter Jodie, son James, and Kyle who is now in 11 Blue, also attended. I have always had confidence in Highcrest to do a good job at caring for my children and teaching them. A big thank you to all the staff.

K Furlong 11 Blue - Mrs O'Neill

I am so grateful to the staff at Highcrest who support our children so much besides the teaching. Especially my daughter in Sixth Form who is going through the toughest time but knows that her teachers have got her back. Thank you so much Highcrest Academy for being a big part of the local community in helping our children thrive and develop healthily.

I would like to compliment the school for the due care and attention they have placed with my daughter. In today's society there are a lot of pressures on young children and it's nice to see that the school is keeping in step with these changing times.
