The Student Voice at The Highcrest Academy
The Student Voice comprises of the Sixth Form Student Leadership Team, Sixth Form Ambassadors, Prefects, Academy Council Representatives and Year Council Representatives.
Sixth Form Student Leadership Team
The Sixth Form Leadership Team is made up of the Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl and a team of sixth formers who applied for the roles of Head Boy and Head Girl. The role involves meeting as a group on a regular basis to discuss both Sixth Form and whole school issues.
Sixth Form Ambassadors are chosen by individual departments to be role models for younger students. They represent the departments at events such as Open Evening and work within the departments on a weekly basis, leading extra-curricular clubs or supporting students in lessons.
The Prefect Team is made up of Year 11 students who have applied to become prefects towards the end of Year 10. The successful students receive leadership training and are asked to carry out a variety of duties on a weekly basis as well as supporting Parents' Evenings and Open Evening.
Prefects are role models for all other students in the school and can be identified by their prefect tie and badge.
The Academy Council is made up of one representative from each year group. Year Council reps must apply to their Head of Learning to take on this role. The Academy Council meets each half term and is led by the Head Boy and Head Girl. They then can feedback from the meeting to the staff SLT.
The Year Council is made up of two representatives from each tutor group and students must apply to their Form Tutor to take on the role. The Year Councils meet twice a half term with their Head of Learning to discuss issues raised in tutor time.
