Apprenticeships:

The Highcrest Academy is committed to ensuring our students have access to the widest possible range of information and support to help them plan their future careers. We see apprenticeships as an essential component of this. For many students an apprenticeship where they can earn while they learn is a great alternative to traditional University applications. There are now an increasing number of higher and degree apprenticeships that give students the skills, knowledge and experience to ensure a successful career and they end up with a degree or other higher- level qualification but no debt.

The Academy works with a range of external businesses and agencies to raise awareness of the exciting and credible range of opportunities offered by apprenticeships. There are currently published standards for 541 different types of apprenticeship qualifications ranging from golf course greenkeepers to air traffic controllers and from nursing to visual effects technicians on films with more than 200 more being prepared.

There are now official specifications for a broad range of Apprenticeships in different sectors to ensure their quality. You can check them on the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education website which also has details of the new T-Levels qualification.
