Sixth Form overview
Sixth Form 2021/2022
Welcome to the Sixth Form section of our website.
We hope that you find the information on this website useful, whether you are viewing it as a current Sixth Form student or someone interested in joining us in September 2022.
We are very proud of our Sixth Form and the journey we have undertaken to be where we are today. Starting only 16 years ago as a Sixth Form with only a few courses available, we are now an institution that provides education for over 160, 16-18 year olds across over 20 subjects that are both academic and vocational.
Our most recent Ofsted inspection highlighted the Sixth Form as a strength of the school and this has been backed up with strong results over the years, namely in 2017 where our results put us as the number 1 Sixth Form in the whole of Buckinghamshire (including Grammar schools!) for value added. This alongside our brand new Sixth Form Centre and our breadth of subjects, make The Highcrest Academy Sixth Form a really attractive place to learn.
The aim of our Sixth Form is to allow our students the opportunity to further themselves so that when they leave Highcrest, they are ready to take the next step in their journey. Whether the next step is university, an apprenticeship or into the workplace we aim to ensure all have the necessary skills and qualifications to succeed.
The key to achieving this is ensuring the students are set up to succeed from the start. How we do this is by doing all we can to make sure that the students are on the right courses for them, both in terms of their starting points and also where they see their final destinations. We have a very in-depth enrolment process that starts all the way back in November at our Sixth Form Open Evening and runs all the way through the year involving pre-enrolment interviews, taster days and sessions with the current Sixth Form students themselves. We offer a wide range of Level 2 and Level 3 BTEC as well as A Levels. GCSE retakes for both Maths and English are also available for those who didn’t achieve a grade 4 in their Year 11 exams.
