We have a designated Safeguarding Trustee, Mrs Ina Stan, who visits the academy on a regular basis to meet with our Designated Safeguarding Lead, members of the Safeguarding Team and other staff at the Academy. Her role is to scrutinise and monitor our provision and she reports her findings back to our Trustee Pupil Welfare committee and full trustee board regularly throughout the year.

Staff Training

At Highcrest, all staff receive a safeguarding induction, delivered by the Designated Safeguarding Lead, before they begin their role.

All staff are trained annually on the most recent Keeping Children Safe in Education document, and we also follow the Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023 and the Prevent Duty 2023. We utilise a mix of online training for safeguarding topics, through SSS Learning, with face-to-face training delivered in-house or via external speakers.

The DSL also provides weekly safeguarding tips and reminders via our Staff Briefing, to keep safeguarding topics and procedures at the forefront of everyone’s mind.
