our school charity
"Growing Hope High Wycombe was delighted to partner with The Highcrest Academy as their charity of the year. Highcrest staff and students committed to raising funds to benefit local children with additional needs through sponsored events and challenges - and we were blown away by their efforts and success! Not only did the school raise thousands of pounds for the charity, they also raised crucial awareness of the challenges facing children and young people with additional needs. As a result, Growing Hope High Wycombe has had the opportunity to provide free therapy directly to members of the school community who otherwise may not have known about this resource. Thank you The Highcrest Academy - your care and contribution has made a real difference to the lives of children and their families in the area, growing understanding, confidence and hope."
Raising funds for a local charity each year provides a number of benefits for our school community. It cultivates a sense of empathy and social responsibility among students, instilling in them the importance of giving back to their community and supporting those in need. Through active participation in fundraising activities throughout the year, students learn valuable skills such as teamwork, leadership, and organisational abilities, which are essential for their personal and professional development. Overall, raising money for a local charity not only benefits the recipients of the funds but also shapes the character and values of our students, preparing them to become responsible and empathetic citizens of our community.

This year we had three charities pitch to our newly appointed Academy Council to vote on which worthy charity would be Highcrest’s Charity of the Year.
This year we nominated three charities to pitch to our newly appointed Charity, Sports and House Committee to vote for which worthy charity would be Highcrest’s Charity of the Year.
Yasmin from Wycombe Youth Action presented via video about the amazing work they do, running youth clubs and visiting schools, talking about a variety of topics. Highcrest students that attend the Be Easy Youth Club also talked about their experiences there.
We then had Holly from Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity talk about their organisation that supports children and their families as they navigate their way through complex medical conditions by providing specialist nurses. Unfortunately the Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity were unable to attend.
The students listened to the pitches and then voted unanimously for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity!
We look forward to working with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity over this academic year, raising funds for this worthy charity. They will be coming into school in the near future to run assemblies on their charity.
